I Could Smile for a While

Publisher: Random Man Editions

88 pages of drawings and photos by Niptong. A twin flame number. The DIY radio sign-off for “love and kisses.” Across the globe, audiences are lamenting being born torn apart from themselves—flames in search of twins, thought by Plato to have come out the womb in sets of twos…two hearts, two heads, four eyes, four arms, etcetera. In the vicinity of this absence and the costly search for re-conjoinment is Niptong. Niptong’s scenes, vibrant marker and pen drawings punctuated with stickers, digital illustrations, and photographs, are full of holes too: a circle, polkadot, wheel, asshole, urethra, Q-Tip implying an ear canal, a puppy-dog with shiny spinning saucer puppy-dog eyes. There are one, two, three, four holes in the number 88!

The stars of Niptong’s drawings pull realistic perception a hair wider, and the smile we find ourselves making upon encountering them is a parasympabioreflexological response to the tingle of that stretch. Like from opening your mouth really really wide. There are scientific studies coming out now from elite research institutions in support of this phenomenon. Watch out! Sure, they’re girls, but more specifically, they’re GLAMOROUS, they’re CAREFREE or PLAGUED, and they’re HORNY. Girls who make contact…with you, or the quivering terrain of love. Maybe the sky will crack open under the influence of this combination, or you’ll find yourself suddenly and sublimely happy.
