On the Way
A collection of pencil illustrations by Yiran Guo, an artist based in China and New York. A work depicting the streets and subways of New York during the lockdown due to COVID-19 from 2019 to 2020. Published by Riso Studio <Mega Press> run by NY-based artist Panayiotis Terzis, also known as PAN.
On The Way collects a series of drawings created by Shanghai based artist Yiran Guo (Eva) which depict strangers in transit on the streets and subway lines of New York City. Guo's works capture the spontaneous humanity on display in the rushing crowds of NYC, rendered in the fluid line-work and scratchy tonal values of graphite and colored pencil. This edition carries the viewer from the summer and fall of 2019 through the devastating early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and the city's tentative re-emergence from lockdown in the summer of 2020.
